ROCK-TIL-YOU-DROP (The mature musicians' social network)

Well I though this would be a good question to ask. I have been playing for many years now and I am experiencing a case of finger blistering when I play live. I am using ground wound strings and I am thinking it might be the reason. Oh. Yes blistering only happens on my right hand , as I am right handed.

So, can anyone give me some tips. Have a Joly good Christmas and happy new year. Peace.

Joel,
I get this anytime I have a layoff and the hard skin softens (just like life!)
I also use roundwounds, you could look at flatwounds or groundwounds, but this will change the feel and sound.
Long term solution is to play/practice regularly, you could also try regular applications of surgical spirit (on your fingers, don't drink it), this is a trick used on the feet of people who walk a lot.
In an emergency, a thin layer of superglue on your fingertips can get you through a gig, but it hurts like hell if you already have a blister (btw, I take NO responsibility for any damage caused by using this last solution, it is for emergencies only)
Lastly, make sure you keep your fingers dry as much as possible, no long soaks in the bath and don't do the washing up!

Good luck
