Phat Beat Productions My Production of Linkin Park’s The Catalyst

Here's my version of Linkin Park's The Catalyst - Linkin Park provided only about a minute of the vocals and a few other tracks. I only used the vocals and preformed, programed, produced and mixed the music with a new arrangement. Of course I never heard the original arrangement, so I guess it's new. Enjoy !

Phat Beat Productions Remix Contest -- "Symphonies" by Dan Black feat. Kid Cudi

Dan Black is one of the hottest alternative-pop stars to emerge from England in the past few years. His first single, "HYPNTZ" caused a sensation when it dropped, as it was a nod to Biggie Small's "Hypnotize", and Rihanna's hit "Umbrella". Dan built on this success with his current hit "Symphonies", and he's already invited Kid Cudi to jump on board to lay down some vocals. In the same remix spirit, Dan asked artist to rework his song "Symphonies", into something totally unique. My production… Continue

Phat Beat Productions My Remix of Peter Gabriel’s “Games Without Frontiers”

On ‘Scratch My Back,’ Peter Gabriel interprets songs by artists he admires: David Bowie, Paul Simon, Elbow, Bon Iver, Talking Heads, Lou Reed, Arcade Fire, The Magnetic Fields, Randy Newman, Regina Spektor, Neil Young and Radiohead. Peter has taken the collaboration to new levels by asking these artists to reinterpret and perform their favourite Peter Gabriel song to be released as double A sides on iTunes. After the cycle is complete, all 12 reciprocal songs will have been unveiled via the Full… Continue

sara john James Taylor Tour

Best of the best: Diana Ross, James Taylor and Carol King, More sweet memories from a sweet time in the annals of pop music. James Taylor and Carole King's Troubadour Reunion Tour marks the 40th anniversary of their first performance together at West Hollywood's celebrated Troubadour nightspot. JT is 62 now and King is 68, and this reunion is being billed as a once-in-a-lifetime event. Look for both artists to shower the people at the Palace with lots of love via hits like "Jazzman," "Fire and R… Continue

Graham Hunt PRS Soundcheck event

I went to a PRS Soundcheck event last night in London. These are events for new members of PRS designed to give a quick intro the PRS and how it works and importantly what PRS members should expect and also what PRS asks of them.

Firstly PRS. Is it worth joining? Well in the old days it was at least £100 I think to join and so bottom line unless you were certain that you'd get airplay, big paid gigs etc. it wasn't worth it. Now it is only £10 to join and tha

Graham Hunt Another Libertine Acoustic Sunday set

So I played the acoustic Sunday again at The Libertine yesterday.

Sadly as members of R-T-Y-D should know by now The Libertine has been lost as the Saturday night band venue. Given that Toby was putting on the monthly Sunday afternoon sessions as a adjunct to those it's a possiblity that these might get put on ice in the future as well. It's a shame if that happens.

Anyway - yesterday was a good afternoon. We had a mix of two duos breaking out of their usual ba

Otto Phthrugg Jam night in Edgware

Dunno if this is of interest to anyone, but I went to check out Jan's North London Jam at the Three Wishes 122/126 High Street Edgware http://www.myspace.com/jansnorthlondonjam It operates most Monday nights and begins with a couple of songs from a house band, following which anyone is free to join in on any instrument/vocal and have a go at something. I must confess I was expecting it to be some bunch of saddos having a drunken karaoke… Continue

Graham Hunt new wah wah...

My old Cry Baby Wah-wah bit the dust on Sunday. I've had this pedal 19 years - I no that as it was the very generous present from my old colleagues when I left my last job and that was June 1991.

Anyway for a while it's been crackling away protesting a new pot would be well in order and the switch had been hit and miss... now it is isn't it is on permanently and you can't turn it off at all! Fine if you are in a UFO or MSG tribute band or hoping to get into Paradise Lost but I

Graham Hunt Libertine 14th Feb - a retrospective

I played again at the R-T-Y-D acoustic Sunday at The Libertine yesterday (14th Feb). Here's some quick reflections.

Firstly - this is the second time I've played live in oodles of years being encouraged into it by R-T-Y-D members like Colin Gilman and Kenski and especially Toby by him opening up an offer for me to play at these events.

I took on board some of what I'd learnt last time - the set list was a mix of my own material (see my last post about song writin

Graham Hunt Song writing

How you write songs? Do you have a fixed pattern? Lyrics first? Tune first?

I'm a bit haphazzard but finding I'm writing more and more as I've got back into this after taking the plunge late last year and getting back into live playing via R-T-Y-D and recording see my previous post. And writing music is great for me, it's a creative outlet that fulfills me in a way most of my life doesn't. Whatever I write musically and lyrically is unique to me, my creative outlet and in some
