Please tell us more about you, and/or your band/studio etc (including its name)
I was a pro musician for many years, both with my own bands and as a sideman with some success, but like most of us never managed to build a lifetime career out of it. I have continued to play and write music all my life. I have experience in and enjoy an extremely wide range of music. I write songs, but I'm also interested in experimental and improvised music, and in an ideal world I would combine the two.
I'm currently involved with a couple of bands, neither of which are any longer as active as I would like. The first Boogie Woogie Flu plays 50's R&B and I am the guitarist, indulging my love of T-Bone Walker and Chuck Berry (www.myspace.com/boogiewoogiefluuk).
A couple of years ago I formed an old timey acoustic band, Dry Bones (www.drybonesband.co.uk - www.myspace.com/drybonesband), playing everything from The Carter Family to The Mississippi Sheiks to Blind Blake to The Louvin Brothers. I play mandolin, cuatro, tiple and sing in this band. They are really good but the other members don't really want to gig as much as I do, which is frustrating.
I have recently returned to songwriting with a vengeance and started doing occasional solo spots and have a page where I put work in progress (www.myspace.com/stevevandeller).
Recently I started archiving my old tapes and that has revived my interest in making recorded experimental and dance music, and have set up a page for that too (www.myspace.com/watusielite) with a small selection of the mass of tapes I have made over the years.
Until they screw the lid down on my in my coffin I see no reason to stop playing and writing creative music, and I am always interested in new challenges.
