Joel, I get this anytime I have a layoff and the hard skin softens (just like life!) I also use roundwounds, you could look at flatwounds or groundwounds, but this will change the feel and sound. Long term solution is to play/practice regularly, you…

Please tell us more about your band/music:
I Started listening to bands like the Beatles, David Bowie, T Rex, Mott The Hoople, basically a lot of records that my older brother and sister had. This must have been in the early 1970s. Since my family moved back and forth from France to England (Devon and Somerset), I was seeing the influence that bands like the Bay city Rollers had on teens and so the thought came to me which was "well that sounds like a good job being in a pop group". My very first instrument was the Xylophone which I played at school in France. My older brother Alick, started to play guitar back in 1972, and of course it was only a matter of time before yours truly started to practice too. Also I did find it hard to put the right amount of pressure on the strings which led me to give up guitar for a while. It was Alick who told me one day "why don't you try and play the electric bass guitar", and a friend of my other brother Ian had an old ARIA and a small Novanex 10 watts bass amp for sale. So I bought them and played it to death, driving the family completely mad (Just Joking! ). I then realized that hey this is for me. So I can say I started to play bass at the age of 17, back in France (Normandy) and one of my first bands were influenced by bands like Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, Status Quo, T-Rex and many others. The revelation of playing live came when in July 1978 , whilst visiting my brother Alick in Kentish Town NW5, I saw a lot of good punk bands. However, it was not until I saw The Clash at The Music Machine after being so mesmerized that I passed out. This event had such a strong effect on me that I quickly made a speedy retreat back to France, this was the moment that I knew that this was exactly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I returned to London in February 1983- and haven't look back since. I played with various bands, recorded on Bill Pritchard's "Half a Million" LP and toured nationwide, as well as appearing on Television. In 2000 I decided to learn the ins and outs of the recording process. I started an introduction to Music Technology course and then moved on to doing a BTEC, for two years in Stratford between 2001-2003. This was then followed by me undertaking a HNC in Music Production course in 2004. This allowed me to build my own studio using Apple Mac computers and all the various Music Software we were using at the college. I was not playing in any bands during this time. Although my main instrument is the electric bass guitar, I also play other instruments like Keyboards and the guitar. Check my Orbitor Journey project at www.myspace.com/orbitorjourney
I am currently involved with Plasma Blue as the studio engineer

Stopping my fingers from having blisters

Well I though this would be a good question to ask. I have been playing for many years now and I am experiencing a case of finger blistering when I play live. I am using ground wound strings and I am thinking it might be the reason. Oh. Yes blistering only happens on my right hand , as I am right handed.

So, can anyone give me some tips. Have a Joly good Christmas and happy new year. Peace.

I'm lucky in so much as I only write for when it's required. Otherwise I could end up with a catalog too. Phew!
