The November social at the Keystone in Guildford had a reasonable attendance.  But what can we do together in the future?  Is there interest in meeting together occasionally for a chat?  How about other events?  Do we want to support each other with gigs and other events?  How many members are in regular groups?  How about a jamming evening?   Would that be a good thing for those who want to play but are not in groups?

I think the South East is a vast area when it comes to socialising, so I am thinking more of those, like me, around the Guildford area.

Thoughts?  Reactions?

There are a few venues around that do open mic nights, perhaps that's a way forward.
Yeah, chinwag sessions would be quite a laugh. Going to each other's gigs - for sure - tell me and I will try my best. Or all turn up to one of the local jam nights in force? Songwriter's group ? (like they have writing groups, you know?)
Monday: Jam night at the Unicorn, Aldershot (The Greedies next gig venue on the 18th!). Rock (any sort it seems). Great bunch of regulars.
Tuesday: What seems to be a blues-oriented jam at the Old Ford at North Camp station. Not stayed long enough to tell if there are more styles, was only there for a quick beer...
Wednesday: The Row Barge in Guildford - Jam night. Rock, blues, whatever. Good sound man!
Thursday: Lion Brewery, Ash. Not been to ths one myself....

All these places also do bands....

Yes to all the above.

Is there any scope for some sort of joint promotions, do you think?  Either stand alone, or as part of some larger event, whether outdoor or indoor? There seem to be a number of things going on in the summer for instance.

I've been to a couple of Thursday nights at the Lion Bewery - really good, mostly blues but some great players.

used to jam at the lion brewery few years ago but like all jam nights it turned to same old same old,as usual centered around a regular band organising a cheap nights entertainment not knocking john at all as he has done more for local music and musicians than anyone else  what with the ash festival and all, lets face it anyone who can get a band like feelgood to play in a villiage green festival is going to get my vote as best promoter on the planet.great pub good beer they are used to good bands in the lion so quite an unforgiving crowd if you rock in there you rock anywhere

Hi

Why dont we/you have an "open Mic" night as a get together, different bands or combinations of who ever wants to play/jam/make it up as you go. Three numbers and your off type of thing, it's what we are all about.

A back line would be the problem I think, Ive got a good PA, mics n stuff

Just a thought

Dave
