Tags: Guitarists, guitar
These are definitely not (all) the best guitarists in the world, but they are my favourites (both individuals and co-players), and those who have inspired my own playing and given me the most pleasure over the years (in no significant order):
1 Ian MacKaye & Guy Picciotto (Fugazi)
2 Neil Young
3 Pete Townshend
4 Charles Gansa (Guv'ner)
5 Jimi Hendrix
6 Keith Richards
7 Alex Turner & Jamie Cook (Arctic Monkeys)
8 Andy Taylor (yes, Duran Duran!)
9 Kurt Cobain (or early Billy Corgan - Smashing Pumpkins)
10 Jimmy Page

Oh, and I forgot, there was a Boston alt rock/blues band called Come (1990-2001) whose guitar players Thalia Zedek and Chris Brokaw together made some of favourite guitar music. Toby

Permalink Reply by Ian Mackenzie on January 7, 2011 at 20:31 thats a impressive list ian, surprised you didnt have me or hendrix at the top,the first guitarist that popped into my head was robin trower.still got all the old vynil although bridge of sighs is a bit worn out.i was a big fan back in the day .he never got a mention in the rolling stone top 100 which is a bit dissapointing.we all know there 1000s of great guitarists but he realy should be in the top bunch .close to the top on skill alone.
