Where is the joy in isolation?

One Voice One Guitar

I have set up a little group on Soundcloud to promote One Voice and One Guitar singer songwriters.  Thought it's been difficult trying to encourage musicians not to post tracks with backing of any kind other than the one voice or the one guitar, the group has really taken off.  There are 64 members and 18 contributers.

I first became passionate about the genre back in 1996 when I founded The Acoustic Music Foundation. I with my partner promoted around 30 independent artists across London for approximately two years before laying the foundations to rest. (My family grew :-).

The numbers were growing increasingly.  I had some cards made and was handing them out to buskers on the underground, and word of mouth p also meant more musicians were showing an interest.  The time that I put in was rewarding, but it was all voluntary.  Venues paid sufficient amounts to cover the  artists travel expenses, which was probably one of the reasons why it became so popular... The only per-requisite was that performers invited as many friends to the events which were always free.(apart from one all-dayer but that's another story).

It's nice to see Toby so passionate about acoustic music.  A mini label and festivals would be a nice thing to see.

Musicians ranged from all ages to all backgrounds and levels of experience.  Some had rarely performed at all.

I am proud of my age and I'm proud of my experience in the genre as I believe I have something to offer others like me looking for an outlet, a forum for expression without worry of age ability or status.
