What is meaningful?

I'm really interested in what people with a life long involvement in music have learned. I want to know after forty years or so what is the impact of that involvement on their lives. I worked as a roadie and security in rock music throughout the sixties and as a lyricist throughout the seventies and have been keenly involved as a songwriter/producer for the last five years. Music has done things to me that it has not done to my close friend who had a successful life in recruitment, my brothers who are teachers, artists and parking meter attendants. It has made me significantly more radical in lifestyle and politics. It has allowed me to travel more. It made me a night person. What has it done to you?
