Being a guitarist I'm always interested in other guitarists' effects pedal set-ups. I have blogged a few off, but it would be interesting to hear about your pedal effects/boards, what they include, and why you have chosen them. Images and/or useful website links would be cool, and a photo like the one below would be great, if you are keen enough to take one.

Thanks, TB

That's an impressive board. The two fx I can't live without are a Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive and an MXR Carbon Copy analog delay.
Mmm.... nice rack.

I was never a big exponent of pedals, meself.... until I realised the joys of playing places with monitoring good enough to destroy the myth of needing to cart an Ampeg stack with you everywhere you play.

When I can get away with being amp-less my bag contains....

SANS AMP BASS DRIVER - still for me the best pre-amp/di you can get.

Y'all can hear 'em when THE DIPSTICKS play at THE CONSTITUTION, 42 ST. PANCRAS WAY, CAMDEN, NW1 on Saturday 11th December: http://www.rock-til-you-drop-bfi.com/events/event/listUserEvents?us...

Now then Toby, why don'tcha show us yours..?
We bass players tend to be a little more reserved in the pedal dept (watch somebody come on and prove me wrong now!!)

I've always been pedal free, just turn up & plug in but recently i've hit upon pretty much all I need (famous last words) so between Fender mustang bass and amp i've got :

Boss TU-2

Tech 21 XXL (Bass Version)

Tech 21 Sansamp BDDI - so useful if the amp provided is sterile or just plain shit or there is no amp at all (this is left out of the chain if I'm using my Orange Terror Bass head with Barefaced cab)
Reading bass magazines there is almost a war out there between bass players who insist on not using pedals, and those who like to play with sound. I use pedals, but only when I think I need a specific sound beyond what the pickups will give me. First of all I have separate feeds for the neck and bridge pickup, so I have a custom volume/blend pedal to mix these (I redid the electrics inside a Bespeco stereo volume pedal), but the mix is at the end of the chains. On the neck pickup I have a Korg tuner and EHX Octave Multiplexer, used for 2 songs only. On the bridge pickup, I was in to Ashdown stuff, so have an Ashdown Bass Drive Plus and Ashdown Lomenzo Bass super drive distortion pedals. Also a EHX bass big muff pi. Different distortions for different songs. Also an Ashdown compression pedal, which I bought as compression seemed to be pretty common, but I do not use it (there is one song I would use it for but we do not play it). And finally the Ashdown chorus plus, which I used for Black Velvet. I made my own pedal board for this collection.

If you want to see them, come to the Greedies gig on Nov 20th (shameless plug!)
Hiya Paul...

Where's The Greedies gig, then...?
Hi Mark

the Star Inn in Guildford. It is in the RTYD calendar. But don't worry if you miss it, as we will be at the Unicorn in Aldershot in December, then the Rowbarge in Guildford in January (or come to all 3!) Paul
Cheers Paul

It'll be Guildford!!

Mark.
Personally I've always preferred the Angus approach of a guitar, a lead and an amp. This is great if you are just playing one style, but generally if playing in a covers band then the minimum you probably need is a distortion of some kind, compressor, modulation ( flanger/phaser/chorus ) and delay. A wah is a nice addition also, but less essential. And obviously a tuner pedal make life a bit easier.
