I spent the last quarter of 2010 getting a new drummer up to speed, and turning what was a four piece into a power trio. This involved me re-learning the art of being the one and only guitar player in the band, which has been something of a challenge, but fun, too.
Anyway, looking ahead to 2011, I resolve to get my band Pocket Rocket into a regular gigging situation and hopefully, in the second half of the year, into the studio to record some of the newer material in the set.
How about you? What are your musical plans, hopes or aspirations in 2011? (Please also include links to your band's sites and/or music, if appropriate)

Finish the album's worth of songs that me and Joel have - re-record and master, basically. Get that project out there perfoming!
Get my guitar-playing up to at least bashing-away-in-public on simple things.
Pretty much as you Toby. 2011, Looking for regular gigs, possibly some European work and some more recording.
Also, just starting to get involved with a covers band which is in it's seminal stages.
p.s. Oh yeh, must come and see Pocket Rocket in 2011

Get jazz duo set sorted (bizarrely, working on jazz chops really helps my blues technique.)
Permalink Reply by Hiram K Hackenbacker on December 29, 2010 at 15:42 I resolve never to learn a scale, never turn down and never surrender to middle age!!
Permalink Reply by Kirsty Pollock on December 29, 2010 at 16:45 I resolve to actually learn all songs properly before going on stage, instead of making it up as I go along.

With Vaccination, I resolve to get more gigs, to find more publicity and perhaps to apply for an arts council grant.
Outside of Vaccination, I resolve to find some musicians to work with on my own projects, to play solo at some open mic nights, and when I get some money together, to buy some more interesting instruments.

Although I'm playing in a 60's band I still play lots of jazz as it helps with everything. Very useful if you're asked to play solo too. I've got a bunch of solo pieces on my website http://www.wix.com/martinrider/martinrider

Hi Martin, really enjoyed the chord melody pieces. Did I hear a Martin Taylor influence?
Nice to meet another Classic 30 owner - I popped an Eminence replacement speaker in mine and it's sounding pretty good.

Joe Pass is my influence and Mr Taylor used to play with him and was a good friend of his too. There's a fabulous solo album by Joe Pass called 'Blues For Fred' (Fred Astaire that is!) and it changed the way I wanted to play.
