Social networking sites are everywhere these days, all vying for space on our browsers, and the strength of these is the social aspect - people sharing various snapshots of their present lives, trying to connect with others.
Most of these, Facebook in particular, offer practically nothing. R-T-Y-D is different.
This networking site could be a lifeline for us old duffers who still have the urge to spank the plank and make an unholy racket, possibly disgracing ourselves in public and loving every second, but this can only happen if we try and be more pro-active and actually communicate with each other.
Yes, I realise that with age comes responsibility and time is a commodity that needs eking out carefully, but let's face it, we're all a bit long in the tooth to have ego problems, we're (mostly) past the stage of reaching for the stars so let's try to help each other and really make this a social network that strives to make things easier for like-minded musicians with dodgy knees and poor eyesight to get out there and play.
I'm so thankful to Toby Burton for recognising the need for this kind of networking site and I'll do my best to share things with other users and, indeed, I'll be introducing this site to others, but this network can only reach its full potential if we all do our part and be involved.
This site can help us all, but it can't do it without us being helpful too.

I can't put it any better than that, Rob - so I won't go on at length, but I hope other plank-spankers, egomaniacs, old duffers etc will just take a moment to come out and say they agree, too..
cheers,
MC

I have taken a moment in coming out and placing my comment within this conversation and hope that more and more of us take that moment, as Stephenmcaines suggests.....
I am no musician, but having been a frontman/vocalist for a few more years than I would let on, I have been looking for a network where I can share my thooughts, experiences and doubts about the, lets say, more mature end of the gigging scene.....
Toby Burton, you are a star for setting this network up and I will try my hardest in being more active within the network......
