Funk Uni????

I've just been looking at an old bass guitar magazine, and I came across an article about Bootsy Collins Funk university (an online resource). Now I can understand why people would want to go to uni to study music theory. But why would anyone want to sign up to a money making scheme for some old has-been, who still think he's worth listening to? He's still riding on the coat-tails of his success in the 70's, and hasn't done anything of note for years. Besides, you can't teach a feeling. Which, like heavy rock, is what funk is!

Perhaps I'm getting old. But I love players such as Bernard Edwards, and the mighty James Jameson.

But part of the whole thing about learning to play for me, was that you have to pay your dues, and do your homework. Not take short-cuts, and think your the next best thing?
