I got Grinderman 2, which I'm really enjoying. Never got into the Birthday Party, Bad Seeds or even Nick Cave's solo stuff, but really liked the last LP, so this was on my list and the wife got it for me. Result! It sounds like the band name suggest it will, songs built around hard, heavy, grinding bass and guitar riffs and dark, ranted and sexually charged lyrics. Great! I got Jamie T's latest LP too, but I'll have to come back to you on that. Again, I liked his first CD.

I got a couple of Dan Erlewine's repair books and some tools (nut files and fret leveling files).

CDs - Black Sabbath the Dio years!  And Robert Plant's Band of Joy - brilliant.  Superb songs played with restraint and passion and stunning vocals.

Nope, but I got half-share in a lighting rig (including smoke machine!) With gantry and winch stands. Sadly, my own pre-Xmas gig was cancelled so the bassman gets to use it with his band first on NYE.

Never fear, it will see a Greedies-related outing in the New Year (2 [or is it 3?] gigs booked already).

Okay I didn't get the Grinderman CD (will buy it myself ... sob). I did however get Slash's Autobiography ... mmmm, good for how band politics destroy a band, bad for good literature (if you know what I mean?).

Also got "Room full of Mirrors" yet another Jimi Hendix Biography which was very readable.

I also got the Springsteen double CD of the "out-takes" from darkness on the edge of town, can't remember what it is called but I can understand why the tracks were left off the phenomenal "Darkness on the edge of town" album. Although it is an interesting listen when compared to finished product. I'm really glad Patti Smith covered "Because the night".
